This map shows the concentration of zombie mentions across the globe (as tracked through Google).

I’d love to see this map with yet another dimension: time. Has “The Walking Dead” on television dramatically increased zombie mentions? I’m sure it has, but when were zombies practically nonexistent in our cultural ethos.

It reminds me of a brilliant Slate article about the Rise and Fall of Quicksand as a popular means for dying in films.
