Social Media Stats

  • Research firm Ipsos found that 85% of U.S. internet users think email is important to their communication structure. Just 62% said the same about social networks.
  • On the flip side of that coin, in Indonesia 83% of internet users choose to partake in social networking and 76% of internet users in Argentina and 75% in Russia also choose social networking as their main form of internet communication.*

Digital Marketing

  • Internet marketing based organizations experience a cost per lead that is on average 61% lower than organizations who focus mostly in outbound marketing tactics.*
  • The average cost per lead of outbound organizations was $346, while the average of inbound dominated organizations was $135.*
  • Blogging is the cheapest cost per lead for inbound marketing channels, while trade shows have the highest cost for outbound channels.*

Social TV

  • 58% of people who share ten or more times on social networks every week report to watching more television than the average person – iModerate Research Technologies study.

Facebook Stats

  • There are over 100 billion connections between people and businesses on Facebook.
  • Facebook has 425 million mobile users.
  • 250 million photos are uploaded to Facebook every day.
  • There are 37 million Facebook pages with ten or more likes.
  • 57% of Facebook users are female. 48 percent of the world’s population is female.
  • The average duration of a Facebook visit is 20 minutes.

  • According to a survey by The Pew Internet Project and Elon University’s Imagining the Internet Center, 35 percent of people don’t believe the web will be any better in 2020 than it is today.
  • According to comScore, Pinterest has grown 237% since the start of 2012.

Mobile Internet

  • According to estimates by Cisco, by 2016 there will be 10 billion mobile Internet devices in use globally. The world population is expected to be 7.3 billion in 2016, so that’s 1.4 devices per person on the planet.
  • Smartphone traffic will grow to 50 times the size it is today by 2016.
  • In fact, Cisco’s “Visual Networking Index,” released in February, reports there will be so much traffic generated between 2015 and 2016 by smartphones, tablets, and laptops that the amount of Internet data movement added for that year alone will be three times the estimated size of the entire mobile Internet in 2012.
  • 1 billion Android apps are downloaded every month.
  • Smartphone sales (globally) are expected to increase by 25% from 472 million in 2011 to 630 million in 2012
  • 67 percent of affluent smartphone owners have used m-commerce.
  • The global sales figure of Near Field Communications (NFC) enabled phones has surpassed 30 million units mark in 2011. This increase in the sales figures, is almost ten times, than that in 2010. NFC featured handsets are expected to cross 700 million units mark by 2016. #
  • Mobile social games are expected to become a $500 million industry by the end of 2012. That’s up from 2011’s figure of $350 million.*
  • According to a study by the Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, Apple only sells 2% more iPhones than BestBuy.
  • Marin Software’s “The State of Mobile Search Advertising” reports that 25 percent of paid search clicks will come from mobile devices by December 2012.
