The Professor of Dirt

Reverse graffiti artist Paul “Moose” Curtis explains the rise of reverse graffiti, a kind of street art that’s created by cleaning dirty city walls. The final effect is as dramatic as spray paint, and the kind of environmental message that the artists hope will make an impact on people’s perceptions of how dirty urban environments actually are.

The laws on this form of art are hazy, but advertisers haven’t hesitated to get involved with the artform. A quick Google search yields branded art from Starbucks, Puma, and many more (though I’m not sure which artworks were paid and which were artistic brand advocates or critics).
